About Us

The Orange County International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists local chapter is a group of professionals who live and/or work in Orange County and who hold the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA), or Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) designation.  Our membership also includes students who are working towards attaining one or more of the designations.  The CEBS designation was established in 1977 through a partnership of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  The Orange County chapter was established in 1997.

To achieve the CEBS designation, students must successfully complete a series of eight exams covering a broad university-based curriculum of employee benefits and compensation topics.  GBA, RPA and CMS designees have successfully completed a series of three exams concentrating on that specific area of benefits:

  • CEBS - The premier designation in total compensation, considered the standard of excellence in the industry
  • GBA - a specialty designation focusing on health care and other group benefits
  • RPA - a specialty designation focusing on all aspects of retirement plans
  • CMS - a specialty designation that focuses on compensation and human resources

CEBS features a unique partnership with two leading academic institutions.  In the U.S., CEBS is cosponsored by the International Foundation and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
